Plant won’t be the only Hillsborough County team playing on TV when the 2010 football season kicks off. Spoto and Newsome will also get some air time as well.
Bright House Sports Network will televise the Kickoff Classic between Spartans and Wolves on Aug. 27. The game, scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Newsome, can be viewed by Bright House cable subscribers on Ch. 47.
It is the only matchup announced thus far for the network’s Game of the Week broadcasts in 2010. Drew Fellios, who handles play-by-play duties on the broadcasts, said Thursday that BHSN won’t commit to a full-season schedule prior to the start of the season this year in an effort to obtain the best matchups possible as the season progresses.
Fellios did say an announcement regarding the games the network will air in the first few weeks of the regular season would be made soon.
Plant’s Kickoff Classic against Bradenton Manatee on Aug. 27 had previously been selected to air on ESPN as part of the ESPN RISE High School Football Kickoff. The game is a rematch of the 2009 Class 5A state title game.
