Catcher Dioner Navarro, who was struck on the tip of his left thumb Thursday against the Pirates in Bradenton, said he won’t miss more than a few days.
“I’ll be fine,” he said. “A little sore. A little uncomfortable. Hopefully it won’t take me today and tomorrow to be ready.”
Outfielder Matt Joyce gave a quick update on his strained right (throwing) elbow.
“It’s definitely good news it’s not the ligament,” he said. “As far as we can tell it’s a muscle strain, possibly a nerve. But if it’s a nerve it heals even quicker. Right now we’re treating it as a muscle strain and going from there, which is actually pretty good news. It turns out there’s soreness. Hopefully be back in a couple of days. Not really sure of the time frame. I kind of have to wait and see what they say.”
