PORT CHARLOTTE Catcher Dioner Navarro injured his left leg in the top of the fourth inning today after a collision with Twins right fielder Jacque Jones and was carted off the field.
Navarro had the plate blocked, and Jones hit Navarro at least waist high.
Navarro fell forward and reached for the lower part of his left leg while Rays manager Joe Maddon and assistant athletic trainer Nick Paparesta raced out of the dugout and head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield sprinted in from the bullpen.
Navarro remained still while awaiting the cart that would take him to the training room. He remained motionless while the cart sped up the right field line.
We will update Navarro’s condition as soon as he here from the Rays.
