Plant’s Aaron Murray reached a milestone this weekend. The junior quarterback received an offer from Oklahoma bringing his scholarship offer total to 50.
Bob Stoops and company join Colorado and Penn State, among others, to recently make an offer. Iowa State is expected to make an offer in the coming days. Murray, Hillsborough County’s leading passer last season with 4,013 passing yards and a state record 51 touchdowns, is expected to narrow his list down in a couple of months and announce his decision this summer before the start of his senior season.
Murray’s complete list of 50 offers: Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Army, Auburn, Boston College, Clemson, Colorado, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Florida International, Florida State, Georgia, Harvard, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Michigan State, Miami, Ole Miss, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, Southern Methodist, Stanford, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UCF, UCLA, UNLV, USF, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Western Kentucky, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Another Plant player garnering a lot of attention is Riverview transfer Orson Charles. The junior tight end has received offers from Auburn, Iowa, Arkansas and UCF. Plant coach Robert Weiner said Tennessee, Georgia and Miami are showing a strong interest in Charles.
Charles made an unofficial visit to Miami this weekend. He joined Weiner, who was on hand for the Hurricanes practice to watch former Plant quarterback Robert Marve. Marve was redshirted last year after a serious car accident sidelined him.
Now fully recovered, the starting quarterback job is Marve’s to lose.
“He looked great,” Weiner said. “He’s got his strength back and he looks faster than he was in high school and he really understands the offense now. I know I’m a little biased, but I’ve been to a lot of college practices and he looks as sharp as any college quarterback I’ve seen.”
