Plant junior quarterback Aaron Murray made up his mind weeks ago and couldn’t wait any longer to let everyone know.
Aaron Murray
He didn’t do the “hat thing” or open his shirt to reveal his choice. Murray simply stated where he will play college football.
Murray announced he will attend the University of Georgia on Thursday at the Panthers fieldhouse. Hillsborough County’s leading passer selected the Bulldogs over the Florida Gators. He’s on schedule to graduate from Plant in December so he can early enroll at Georgia in January and participate in spring practice.
Before his announcement on Thursday, Murray had received 54 scholarship offers from Division I schools including Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame and LSU. In recent weeks, he took unofficial visits to Georgia, Florida and UCLA.
One of the top passers in the nation, Murray set a state record last season with 51 touchdown passes. He’s garnered national accolades such as his selection as the first quarterback for the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp and the Army All-American Bowl Game.

Murrays is great kid. It’s great to see how these #####’s become so ruthless when they get REJECTED…this is why if your not an alumni of UF..YOU HATE THEM (their fans NOT players)

mr..“enough is enough”...Weiner gave an excellenet presentation on Murray at the press conf. Food, pictures, it was a family atmosphere and Weiner was classy as ever and gave the best intro he could for his QB..to bad you were’nt invited…sour grapes

Oh Mr. Ron, UGA didn’t lose Omar Hunter to the #####. You might be suprised to find out that UGA got the #1 DT in the nation in a young man by the name of DeAngelo Tyson. Now that you mention it, UGA went into the state of Florida and got Carlton Thomas and Blair Walsh. Now we get the number #1 kid for 2009 from down there. I bet Urban Cryer can’t take it. Out done once again by a man with integrity, something he wouldn’t know anything about.

Kids have their reason’s and utimately decide what’s best for them. We lose some to the pups and they lose some to us (Omar Hunter last year). In the end, we all move on. It’s funny and it’s sad to read some of these posts from some that are obviously a few cards short of a full deck. Some of you should get a life. It’s still a game. It is good to see some fire from the pups after going 0 for how many the last few years in Jax. Good luck to the kid, and congratulations to his parents for raising what seems to be a fine young man. Go Gators!

Aaron Murray appears to be a fine young man. At UGA, Aaron will have the opportunity to receive quality education. Coach Richt is an excellent role model for his players. Aaron has a bright future, and we should all congratulate him, and wish him well.

After reading all of the comments on this blog, I’d say that there are a lot of classless individuals that are fans of both universities, which is the same for every school. There are nuckleheads everywhere.
Personally, I wish Aaron the best. I’m about a mile from Plant HS and have had the opportunity to see him play. And as a Florida fan, I know that a good one got away. Reallistically, Murray made a wise choice to attend UGA simply because of the fact that Gator Family Legacy John Brantley will most likely have the reigns through 2011, leaving Murray with 2years of eligilbility as a starter. I’m sure that was a strong selling point from Mark Richt. He’s a classy kid, from a great family, and I hope he succeeds.

The article, I think, is about Aaron Murray…. Aaron Murray’s accomplishments, Aaron Murray’s decision. Why, then, am I perpetually looking at a picture of that self promoting big mouth, Rob Weiner….again!
Congratulations Aaron, sit down Weiner.

If you don’t think he’s a great q-back; then you never saw him play
If you don’t think he’s a class act; then you never met or talked w/ him
Football is a team sport and Aaron is the ultimate teammate and leader
Just a great, great kid from a loving and caring family
Best wishes going forward

I guess you can say I am biased but last year shattered the mojo Fla. had over us. The domination is over Lizards. It’s really gonna SUCK when this kid helps us start a string of W’s huh Lizards???!!! The New Order won’t be kind to the Gators!!!Oh yeah Gator fans, your coach is a foul-mouthed fanatic ! His shtick will wear thin soon.

Congratulations to Aaron Murray. This kid comes from a great family who has helped him develop great character. I have the honor of knowing his older brother Josh, who is not only a great athlete, but also a great person. It is easy to get mixed up in all the hype, but lets not forget that this is a 17-year old kid who is getting ready to embark on a journey of a lifetime. Aaron, good luck in all you do buddy!

tsk tsk. all you uf fans get into such an uproar. “well we didn’t want him anyways” is pretty much all i hear. as far the annual showdown in jax, this yr will be fun. i like to see gators cry. you win a couple of yrs and forget that the series is longer than just 18 yrs old. come talk to me about bragging rights after you guys finally catch up to total wins w/ us DAWGS!!!!
As far as the this decade, uf got lucky once and made it to the sec title game, and sprung to a nc game. but how many SEC titles did you get this decade compared to UGA’s??

Ok Gators, lets talk real football if you can. Newton is a bust. He is moving to TE next year and you know it. Dont try and deny it. Brantley hasnt seen the field because he cant get healthy. Hard to play an injury prone QB. You have ZERO depth behind Tebow. You lost Logan Gray and now you lose out on Murray. Please dont forget that Meyer didnt turn to Newton until Gray committed to UGA. You lost your NUMBER ONE target in the state. Just face the facts that you lost this one to UGA and move on. You look like jean short wearing morons when you trash a good kid like Aaron. Dont try and spin this one, because the facts will prove you wrong.

Hey, pretty boy QB. As a graduate of the University of Florida you can take that ##### bait bulldog and cram it up your ...... we don’t need jerks like you! Go Urban!
NOW THAT IS GATOR CLASS AT ITS BEST. A 17 yr old kid makes a decision that is best for him and he gets that from ##### fans. Looks like he did make the best decision !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Ed Rogers, Macon, Georgia on 04/24 at 02:47 PM
Hey gatorboy, we only scored 12 against USC, but we scored 42 against the #####.
Posted by Mrs. Murray, on 04/24 at 02:46 PM
Terry, your post is despicable. What a personal attack on a 17 year old kid who stands for everything good. Too bad you don’t like HIS choice - Get over it and Get a life!
Congratulations Aaron and best of luck!

##### are so classless! The only reason you bash Aaron Murrey is because he didn’t choose Florida. Had he committed to UF, you fools would have been talking about how great he was going to be. On to Stafford and Tebow. The only reason Tebow had the numbers he has is because Urban Lier has always padded numbers of players going back to his days at Bowling Green and Utah. He promotes one player over the rest of the team. Stafford will be a much better pro than Tebow. How many quarterbacks from Florida and how many that Urban has coached has amountted to anything in the NFL? The answer is ZERO!!!!

Is Katherine Smith trying to party with Murrary? This women can’t go 1 day without writing on article about the kid. Pathetic, report the news, don’t drill it into the ground with a minute by minute report. The kid had 1 good year of high school football, he lost both big games he played in to the WOOD. The kid is a nice player, definatley no Tebow. And all you Georgia fans, don’t forget since 1990 Florida is 15-3 against Georgia.
