Plant junior quarterback Aaron Murray made up his mind weeks ago and couldn’t wait any longer to let everyone know.
Aaron Murray
He didn’t do the “hat thing” or open his shirt to reveal his choice. Murray simply stated where he will play college football.
Murray announced he will attend the University of Georgia on Thursday at the Panthers fieldhouse. Hillsborough County’s leading passer selected the Bulldogs over the Florida Gators. He’s on schedule to graduate from Plant in December so he can early enroll at Georgia in January and participate in spring practice.
Before his announcement on Thursday, Murray had received 54 scholarship offers from Division I schools including Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame and LSU. In recent weeks, he took unofficial visits to Georgia, Florida and UCLA.
One of the top passers in the nation, Murray set a state record last season with 51 touchdown passes. He’s garnered national accolades such as his selection as the first quarterback for the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp and the Army All-American Bowl Game.

English Mutt, you may want to proof read before you go insulting people. It’s honor not honour. And I would not wish my worst enemy be forced to take up residence in Georgia. Other than Augusta National, what a dump of a state!

Leslie….your foul mouth comments only go to show how dumb and obnoxious you and other dawgs (who the hell let them out??). Jacksonville in November will show you which team is better….GATORS.
Posted by English Bulldog, Athens, Georgia on 04/25 at 12:35 PM
To my little peasant friend #####. You’ll always be a stupid, gay, jean short-clad little boy and most unworthy to have the honour of claiming residence in the Great State of Georgia. Last time I looked at the football series, Georgia still owns it. Football was not invented in 1990. Face the fact that Georgia will always be on top of Florida.
Posted by gatorboy, augusta,ga on 04/25 at 11:58 AM
why would you gaydogs be bragging about having to come to the gator nations to get players?? talking about tradition, look at all the bowl games and champion ships that came from the florida schools, the gators rule and that burns you pups up.
Posted by gatorboy, augusta,ga on 04/25 at 11:39 AM
gaydogs,
listen. i didnt see where anyone was made or talking bad about him.we were talking about ga vs uf and stafford. we were just stating facts. as far as class. a coach telling his team to run out on the field and make him and his team to like punks… real class!

I really believe Katherine Smith’s time line of Aaron Murrays day was to just show how busy he is and “the day in the life”..whats the big deal TMANN? Im sure if were about an Armwood player, you would not be Bi***i** .. It Looks like you and I are going to have another long season..

And to Mr. Murray and his parents, you could not have chosen and better family to become a part of. I am from Daytona Beach, went to Athens several years ago and I can honestly tell you, it will become a part of who you are. You can leave Athens… but Athens will never leave you. And Coach Richt, is absolutely everything you think he is and more as the head of our beloved program. Your son will wear a ring and have a hell of an education to boot.
GO DAWGS!!! ‘08 National Champs!!!

BULDOG NATION:
IF YOUR BLOOD RUNS RED & BLACK!!!!
Please reign it in a notch and conduct yourselves with the class and dignity that the University Of Georgia represents. If there will be any mud slinging, let “those guys” do it. Show Mr. Murray and the rest of the potential Dawgs in the sunshine state what we are all about in Athens.
I said yesterday, their history started in 1991 as is apparent from several of their fans in this blog. 17 years is too short a memory to realize that football as is life, is a cycle and now it’s our turn again.
Again, gators live in the mud… Bulldogs don’t. So stay out of that with them and use this board to appreciate our newest family member.

Congrats, Aaron! From what I’m reading you’re a great kid with a lot of potential. Keep football in perspective and get a good education. You’ll be able to do both at UGA and you’ll have high-quality coaches. Dawg Nation is thrilled that you like Athens and UGA! You’ll love Playing Between the Hedges and going to JAX every year. Goooooo Dawgs! Sic em!

Being a playoff team is not that big of a deal, you finish second in a 5-6 team district and your in. Chamberlain was a nice team and Hillsborough was athletic. Other than that, give me a break. Point being, people are making a huge deal from a kid who gave a verbal commitment to a school as a junior. John Brantley committed to Texas early and look what happened. Until he signs, he is still going to be recruited heavy. But the biggest issue is Katherine Smith, where is your career going when your have to give a detailed time line for a KID VERBALLY committing to a school. Just my opinion, but that is pathetic. Good luck to Murray no matter where he plays.

Terry, Ur a loser!!! Im sure ##### nation dont even aknowledge you as alumni with those comments.
Posted by rbmjr, norcross, ga on 04/25 at 08:40 AM
Oh yeah, and to all the comments on UGA’s needs to beat the likes of USC, you think the Dawgs wanted to play Hawaii. Who made the choice to put USC against Ron Zooks ‘Flailing’ Illini.
USC vs.UGA ,that was the ticket that would have answered the questions there.
And the Dawgs were ready. Maybe the BCS will get it right.
Go Dawgs!Go SEC!

First of all, congratulations Aaron
you’re gonna love it in Athens. 2nd
I can understand why the Gators keep visiting the UGA blog as the Gator blog is so damn depressing. Get used to it.

Hey Tmann: Did you say Plant don’t play a tough schedule? they play Armwood,(playoff team) Chamberlain (5A)playoff Team), Hillsborough (Playoff team), Gaither (5A) (playoff team), Middleton, Riverview (playoff team) Jefferson, Alonso, Blake and Robinson…the kast 2 have ot been as competetive but they are athletic teams. so 6 of their 10 games are against playoff teams..and the gators open up with who..? Uc Santa Barbara?
Posted by tmann, tampa on 04/25 at 07:32 AM
Go check out Tebow’s rushing stats the same year. Look at the schedules they played. Plant does not exactly play a tough schedule, and lets not get into the fact that Weiner runs the score up on everyone he played when he has the chance. I have two friends who are high school coaches in the area, and they respect the talent of Plant, but say it’s pretty unanamious around the county the way they feel about how Weiner passing the ball up 5-6 TD in the second half against numerous teams. Plant played 2 good teams last year Armwood and Plant, and WOOD drilled them twice. If you want some more of that this year Im sure the boys will give it to the Plant boys.
Posted by ECSOUTH, TAMPA on 04/25 at 07:16 AM
Tmann: Murray broke Tebow’s records, He maybe no Tebow “now”, but why dont you give him a chance to be a freshman in college. UF has 2 more years then they’re thru. The Canes have re-loaded and FSU will to…C you & the Wood in South Tampa in August.
