Antonio Tarver doesn’t have to worry about searching out opponents. Elvir Muriqi, who Tarver beat via a majority decision June 9, 2007, wants another shot.
Muriqi told Boxingtalk.com: “Honestly, once again, I watched the fight over and over again and I know from the bottom of my heart that I was victorious on the night of June 9th, against Antonio Tarver.”
If Tarver is victorious in his April 12 fight against Englishman Clinton Woods, which will be for Woods’ IBF light heavyweight belt and Tarver’s IBO light heavyweight title, he wants to face the winner of the Chad Dawson-Glen Johnson fight, which will be for Dawson’s WBC light heavyweight belt. Dawson and Johnson will fight on the undercard of Tarver’s fight against Woods.
For now, Tarver’s plans are on unifying the light heavyweight division and considering that line of thinking, Muriqi with no belt equals no fight.
