Multi-sport star Sabrina Whiting, a sophomore at Seffner Christian Academy, surpassed 1,000 points for her career in the Crusaders’ game against Carrollwood on Saturday, SCA athletic director Andy Holmes announced.
Whiting has been playing varsity basketball since seventh grade and has been a starter since her eighth grade year. She is believed to be one of the youngest basketball players in the county’s history to reach the 1,000-point mark in just their sophomore year.
Besides basketball, Whiting has been an all-county performer in cross country and track the past two seasons. For the past two seasons, she has been a first-team, all-Hillsborough County selection in cross country for the Tampa Tribune. Last spring in track, she reached the state finals in a completely unrelated event to distance running, the triple jump.
At the Class 1A state cross country finals last fall, Whiting finished 18th in a 5-kilometer time of 19 minutes, 53 seconds.
