The Charlotte Sports Park will now be known as Mosaic Field thanks to an agreement between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Mosaic Company, a phosphate and agricultural supply company based in Plymouth, Minnesota.
“Our first priority in considering a naming rights partner was to find a corporation with a strong presence in our region and a demonstrated commitment to local communities,” said Rays Senior Vice President Mark Fernandez.
Mosaic will retain the naming rights for the Rays’ spring training home until 2014. Terms of the deal were not fully disclosed but the county will receive approximately $77,000 per year as a result of the deal. Mosaic will also sponsor a number of community events each year including youth baseball camps and the annual Charlotte County Community Nights.
“This partnership builds upon Mosaic’s established relationship with the Rays and our ongoing support of community organizations in Charlotte County,” said Mosaic spokesman David Townsend.
The Rays are expected to submit the naming rights partnership to the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners later this month.
