NEW ORLEANS—Raheem Morris has two more chances to seal the deal.
There’s a good reason you haven’t heard from Bucs ownership regarding Morris’ future as Tampa Bay’s coach.
After 14 games, they’re still not sure if he’s the guy.
Tampa Bay’s 2-12 start has naturally raised an array of concerns. The possibility remains viable that Morris could be one-and-done, especially if the Bucs aren’t competitive against the Saints and Falcons.
Last week’s win at Seattle was a step forward for Morris, but the Bucs followed their victory against Green Bay Nov. 8 with five consecutive losses, including home drubbings against the Saints and Jets.
The Glazers want to see a positive finish to the 2009 season, setting the stage for some fan optimism in these difficult economic times. The support base has withered considerably and there will be thousands of empty seats for next Sunday’s home finale vs. Atlanta.
Morris says the NFL’s 32 coaches don’t enjoy job security as a group. After less than a year on the sidelines, Morris is indeed coaching for his job right now, especially with Bill Cowher poised to swoop in from the broadcasting booth and return to his true passion in some distressed NFL locale.

A report card of even a 4-12 record doesn’t deserve praise and a passing grade. RM must go!!
