PALM HARBOR—If only reading the NFL draft was as simple as reading a putt.
Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris took a break Monday from 2010 draft analysis to participate in the Celebrity Pro-Am of the Transitions Championship at Innisbrook Resort, where he was joined by GM Mark Dominik and several former Buccaneers, including Mike Alstott, Shelton Quarles, Anthony McFarland and Mark Royals.
Morris doesn’t consider himself an accomplished golfer, but he managed to sink a 30-foot birdie putt for his group on No. 18. Switching to the front side, Morris promptly hooked his tee shot at No. 1 far to the left.
“I’m having a ball,’’ Morris said. “I enjoy playing and it’s all about the look. As long as you look good and you can go out there and play halfway decent, that’s what it’s all about.’‘
Morris said Monday’s charity event afforded Tampa Bay’s braintrust a rare opportunity to interrupt the organization’s intense preparations for next month’s draft, where the Bucs have 10 picks overall, including five of the top 99.
“We’re really excited about this draft coming up,’’ Morris said. “Our team is going to be built through the draft and we can’t wait to get it going.’‘
