University of South Florida offensive coordinator Mike Canales said this week he might be more inclined to stick with the running game on Saturday afternoon when the Bulls (5-1, 1-1 Big East) play at No. 20-ranked Pittsburgh (6-1, 3-0).
Canales said he probably abandoned the running game too early during last week’s 34-17 loss against Cincinnati, when the Bulls fell behind in the second half.
“I felt like I was trying to make something happen when we got down,’’ Canales said. “We should’ve stayed with it. It’s a heat of the moment thing.
“I even wrote that down in my notes this week—be patient.’‘
