TAMPA – Dave Moore, the tight end/long snapper whose 13 seasons with the Bucs left him as the most tenured player in team history, announced his retirement as a player Thursday.
Moore is not leaving the Bucs, however. Moore and Bucs GM Bruce Allen announced Moore will take over as the team’s color analyst on Bucs radio broadcasts this season.
Moore will replace Hardy Nickerson, who was hired this offseason as the Bears’ linebackers coach under former Bucs assistant Lovie Smith.
Moore’s playing career started in 1992 with the Dolphins, but he also spent part of that year with the Bucs, joining Tampa Bay in November and later catching his first NFL pass from Vinny Testaverde.
Moore also spent time with the Buffalo Bills, missing out on the Bucs Super Bowl season. He rejoined the Bucs in 2004 serving as a tight end and long snapper through the end of last season.
Moore’s career included one trip to the Pro Bowl, that coming this past January when he was named an alternate to the NFC squad. During his career Moore played in 220 games, catching 207 passes and scoring 28 touchdowns.

The only thing missing in his admirable career is not having that Super Bowl ring. Also I want to say in a world of professional sports as a “business” Dave showed “moore” commitment to this organization than many players do to theirs! Hats off Dave and good luck in the booth!

Yet another player that deserves to be on the ring of honor. Dave Moore showed the patience for a team that was up and coming and never complained about the roles that he was asked to play. Looking forward to hearing him on the air speaking about his beloved bucs this year. Thank you Dave, GO BUCS!!

One of the hardest workers and one of the smartest players in the league. Kept his career alive for fifteen years by being able to long snap as well as play TE. His TD to reception ratio is an amazing statistic. Only wish he was here for the championship. Good luck and God bless. Thanks for all the memories. Happy fishing!

Dave Moore was a great Buc who represented the team and community in the highest fashion. We wish him well in his future endeavors. It would be nice to have Moore “pull a Donovan” and give us another year. Best of luck.

Dave Moore gave the Bucs everything he had on every play ,he never took a play off . He is a good Buc ,his skills have diminished with age but his effort and work ethic will be missed . He helped Vinnie out alot with timely catches and wasn’t a bad blocker. I wish him tge best .

Somebody sign him up as the TE and Longsnapper coach. He may not have been the most talented Buc ever, but he no doubt is the most tenured Buc and one of the most respected to wear the uniform. His presences will be sorely missed in the locker room so let’s get him in there as a coach Allen. I’ll never forget the one-handed catch he made on opening day @ RJS to catapult us to a comeback win vs. the Bears (I think.) What a grab! If Dilfer had thrown the ball well enough (that’s a laugher,) he would have scored. Enjoy retirement Dave!!!
