San Jose and Los Angeles meet in a west coast showdown to open Week 17 of the Major League Soccer schedule on Thursday night on ESPN2.
SAN JOSE (6-4-4) AT LOS ANGELES (12-2-3): The first meeting between the two California rivals sees the Galaxy aiming to maintain their undefeated record at the Home Depot Center while the Earthquakes try to solidify their playoff position.
The Galaxy have won six of their seven games at home this season, outscoring their opponents 15-4 in the process. With Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan seeming to have not missed a beat after returning from the World Cup, San Jose’s defense will get tested tonight.
San Jose earned a 0-0 draw against the English Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, and have played well on the road going 3-2-2 this season. Chris Wondolowski will need to have a big performance, though, if the Earthquakes are to take anything from this game.
