Columbus will be hoping to build a cushion at the top of the Eastern Conference against a Kansas City side that has yet to win away from home this season.
KANSAS CITY (8-2-4) AT COLUMBUS (3-8-3): The Crew will try to complete the season-sweep of the Wizards after a 1-0 victory in Kansas City earlier this season. Emilio Renteria scored the only goal of the game in that contest after coming on as a substitute.
Columbus is making up its game in hand on New York tonight, and with a game on Saturday looming against the second-placed Red Bulls and their new acquisition Thierry Henry, a win tonight would give the Crew a five-point lead at the midway point of the season.
Kansas City has lost its last three games, getting shut out in all three contests. Part of that has been due to the lack of secondary scoring on the team, no-one other than Kei Kamara has more than one goal for the Wizards, but it has been compounded by Kamara going through a dry spell himself. The forward has six goals on the season, but only one in the last seven games.
