Mitchell’s Koehler commits to Mercer

Mitchell senior Joe Koehler has accepted a baseball scholarship offer from NCAA Division I Mercer University in Macon, Ga., Mustangs coach Scot Wilcox said Saturday.
Koehler hit .448 with 5 home runs and 30 RBI for the 23-7 Mustangs last season. Although normally a second baseman, Koehler also made five appearances as a relief pitcher.
Mercer went 39-20 last season, losing in the championship game of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
