The Mitchell boys basketball are going to be without the services of guard Jake Driscoll for awhile as the senior broke his left arm in “recreational activities” over the past weekend, according to Mitchell coach Jared St. Charles.
“It was a recreational accident over the past weekend and I’m going to leave it at that,” St. Charles said. “The guys know we’re going to be without Jake until possibly early February. We’re not worried about it right now, though. We know during the regular season will be without him and we’ll see what happens in February.”
Driscoll helped lead the Mustangs to a 7-1 record until his injury over the weekend and was averaging an impressive 27.1 points per game, shooting more than 50 percent from the field. The senior guard’s biggest game through the eight games he played in was a 51-point output in Mitchell’s 107-101 win against Wiregrass Ranch on Nov. 21. Driscoll had accounted for for nearly 40 percent of the Mustangs’ scoring in the seven games and was starting to receive heavy interest from several college programs.
