Mitchell senior goalkeeper Brian Hoxie has committed to Air Force to play soccer, according to his mother, Lynn, Tuesday morning.
Hoxie, who made 141 saves last season en route to a 9-13 record and was part of the Mustangs’ 2009 Class 4A state championship squad, chose Air Force over several other Division I programs, including St. John’s University, Bucknell, West Virginia and U Mass. Air Force is currently ranked No. 2 in the Mountain West Conference.
The senior team captain holds a 3.8 grade-point average and was a Sunshine Athletic Conference selection last season.
Also Tuesday, Land O’ Lakes boys soccer coach Mark Pearson announced commitments by forward Andy Garcia (Florida Gulf Coast) and midfielder/defense Jake Frahm (North Florida).
Both were first-team SAC selections last season.
