Pittman has been horrible. He’s easy to tackle and he gets caught from behind when he breaks a long one. We’re only lucky that MP picked the Super Bowl to have his best game in a Bucs jersey.

Sean Alexander had somebody called Steve Hutchinson blocking for him. Hey guess what he blocks for Peterson now.
By the way didn’t the Viking lost their full back to the Jet. In todays NFL the position is losing its funcionality. When a 300 lb line man running almost 4.7 the full back is useless. Keep wishing for an ATrain.LOL

Thank you for being a better person and learning how to be a man while you were in Tampa. Thank you for working hard and by all accounts, being a great teammate. Thank you for the great day you had on the Bucs Greatest Day. If you end up back here as the #3 back I’d be happy, and if you go else where I’ll root for you (when not playing the Bucs). THEN you work a trade with Cinci for Ocho Cinco. (We’re probably the only team right now that can take on his salary AND ease Cinci’s cap hit for trading him all at the same time) NOW you have a team that CAN go to Tampa this year for the Super Bowl! How? The opposing D can’t double 85, 84 AND stop the run! I’m thinkin’ the Glazers need to hire me to be their GM… Gruden would LOVE me! HA! HA!

Part II for Fernando:

If you want to open up the passing game, you DON’T draft a WR in the first round. Unless that WR happens to be Randy Moss or Jerry Rice. There’s not a Randy Moss or a Jerry Rice in this year’s draft. So what do you do? You develop a running game that demands 8 or 9 guys in the box. There are 2 pieces missing to that puzzle for the Bucs. (FB & LT) So with the first pick, you select Brandon Albert and with the 4th or 5th pick, you select Schmitt. The other 3 picks are used on Defense. Cason (CB) from Arizona in 2nd round, the DL pool is DEEP in this years’ draft, etc.

Fernando,

Go take a Football 101 class and then you’ll know that a power running game is only as good as the FB you have. With the only 2 exceptions being Barry Sanders and Jim Brown. Neither of whom the last I checked plays RB for our beloved Bucs. Case in point, Shawn Alexander won MVP and went to the Super Bowl running behind Mack, a Pro Bowl FB. He lost his FB last year to retirement. He looked pretty mediocre, huh? Over in KC LJ lost Tony Richardson to Minnesota last year. LJ looked human all of a sudden and who blew up? That’s right, Adrian Peterson.

first of all, Mike Alstott was great and had some good runs but that was a few years ago, he’s been garbage ever since.  The thing is Pittman is a great receiving/change of pace back.  He isn’t an every down back but in this entricate formation that Gruden runs…Pittman will be worth being a keeper for fresh legs or banged up players.

pittman has been a rock for the bucs franchise, bottom line is tho hes getting older ans IS NOT the same back as in 2002. graham showed that he can take a work load, bennett will be more accustomed to our system and will have a bigger role as the homerun hitter along with dunn, i disagree with the fact that williams was a one hit wonder, our O line was weak in 06 but is MUCH MUCH stronger now thanks to some good pick ups, if hes able to play this season i would say look out, hes got a point to prove in getting his starting possition back, the bucs are getting to be a much better team this year, LETS GET IT DONE AND PLAY THE SB IN TAMPA!!!!!!

Pittman has NEVER been a star back…he makes me cringe when he even touches the ball, because more than likely he’s going to drop it!  Plus, any man who hits a woman, with or without a car…doesn’t deserve to be a Buc.  I think betweek Grahamn, Bennett and Dunn (in that order), we’ll be just fine at the position.  Sims and Pittman will move on, but don’t think we’ll get much for either.  We need to get rid of Gradcrapski as well though…
Looking forward to this year, but don’t think I’d pay for the recently inflated tix prices…GO BUCS!

Mike Pittman is no Mike Alstott….but he is a pretty good option at fullback.
He has a bit of explosiveness and he can catch the ball out of the backfield. He can also be an asset on special teams. Sean…the comment about the Hummer was a low blow. Pittman has been a model citizen in Tampa….sometimes old dogs can learn new tricks!

Marshall, you should listen to Mitch, Mike Pittman is NO MIKE ALSTOTT! There will be only one Alstott, and he could almost always pick up those three yards on 3rd and short, or bust into the end zone when we needed him to. Alstott would just lower his head and here comes a first down. That is why we call him the A TRAIN, Mike Pittman has been a decent back, and is very quick out of the backfield, but comparing him to Alstott, is like comparing Jerry Rice to Arnaz Battle. Oh and let’s not forget Mike Alstott never tried to run over his wife with his HUMMER.

Saying the Bucs don’t need another Alstott is like saying the 49ers don’t need another Jerry Rice or Joe Montana. If you asked Mike Nolan right now if he wouldn’t mind having a Jerry Rice or a Joe Montana on his ballclub, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t say: “Nah, I think we’re good with Alex Smith and Arnaz Battle. But thanks for offering!”

Buc ball is smash-mouth football and it hasn’t been the same since Alstott went down with the knee and then the neck injuries. We need a punishing FB that takes away the will of the opposing defense over 4 quarters. That’s my take.

Bennett’s been to a Pro Bowl.  So has Dunn.  How many has Pittman been to?  I’ll agree with you on one thing: Pitt’s the same back he was in 2002—the one who seeks contact and falls down when touched by the shadows of defenders.  He’s the back you want if you need 1 yard, but only if it’s first and ten.

Pittman needs to stay, what the hell has Bennett ever done? For that matter what the hell has Dunn, Darby, and that 1 hit wonder Cadilac Williams ever done? Pittman has earned the right to stick around and get a majority of the touches, he was the same running back that ran for over 100 yds in our Superbowl victory wasn’t he? Where were these other clowns?

George, you’re assuming that we can get anything for Simms.  I mean, if you are an NFL GM, are you going to give the Bucs a 2nd, 3rd or 4th round pick for a kid who hasn’t played in a year and a half due to injury and when he did play, he was inconsistent?  Look at Pac Man Jones, the Cowboys offered a 7th round pick, the Raiders got a 4th for Moss and we got Griese for a 6th.  We’re probably not going to get anything for Simms.  As for Hester, we don’t need another Allstot, and we have a pretty good FB in Askew.  As far as Pittman, I don’t want to see him returning kicks or coming in on 3rd down, I’d rather see Dunn.  Pittman is done.

Hester from LSU would be ok, but Owen Schmitt from West Virginia is who the Bucs should draft.

He could be Mike Alstott II.

Except Schmitt is probably not quite as good a ball carrier as A-Train, but he’s a better blocker and just as tough. Add Schmitt to that new TE we brought in from the Bears and the new and improved O-Line and I can see some SERIOUS pounding of the rock going on in our very near future. GO BUCS!

I think its time for Pittman to move on. Let’s pick up a HB/FB like Hester from LSU in the draft. He is an all purpose back plus mult positions player. I think if we get a 2nd pick in Rd-2, Rd-3 or Rd-4. He would be the perfect solution for the Simms trade pick.
