The first half was ugly for USF, and here are the stats to prove it:
First downs: Miami 14; USF 6
Rushing yards: Miami 127; USF 49
Passing yards: Miami 110, USF 49
Total yards: Miami 237; USF 98
Turnovers: Miami 0; USF 2
Penalties: Miami 6-40; USF 3-14
Time of possession: Miami 18:25; USF 11:35
Third-down conversions: Miami 5-9; USF 2-6
Bottom line: The Bulls were simply outplayed in the first half by the No. 19 Hurricanes. The fumble deep in USF territory proved costly, but Miami proved it didn’t need a short field to score, twice putting together 80-yard drives for TDs.
