GAINESVILLE—Florida coach Urban Meyer is enjoying himself a little more this week, partially because Kentucky coach Rich Brooks isn’t filling the airwaves and newspapers with smack talk for the upcoming game.

Meyer sounded a little miserable when describing the constant attention on Lane Kiffin’s words leading up to last week’s game against Tennessee, a 23-13 Gators win.

This week, Brooks has spent more time talking about how good UF is and the respect he has for Meyer. The two coaches have actually been pretty good friends for many years.

“The focus has been on our players,’’ Meyer said during Wednesday’s SEC teleconference with media. “I’ve never quite experienced anything like that in the past and I’d rather stay away from that. I kind of like this where it’s two good teams going against each other. That’s what college football is all about.
