Mets pick Sickles grad Pinera

University of Tampa right-handed pitcher A.J. Pinera, a Sickles High product, was selected in the 18th round (542nd overall) by the New York Mets in Tuesday’s MLB draft.
Pinera tied for the Spartans team lead in wins this season. He finished 2010 with an 8-1 record and a 4.25 ERA and struck out 65 in 65 2/3 innings of work.
