Medal worth its weight in gold for Tampa Catholic’s Kroll

In the week since her Tampa Catholic girls basketball team won a state title, Coach Nancy Kroll’s gold medal has been well traveled.

She sported it around her neck at a celebration dinner at a local Outback Steakhouse. She wanted to wear it on a trip to Loews, but her husband Mike thought that might not be a good idea.

On Friday, Kroll put the gold medal in the mail, bound for Florham Park, N.J. Kroll sent the medal to her father Bernard Dorn for his 89th birthday.

When the post office employee asked how much the medal was worth for shipping purposes, Kroll responded “priceless.”
