Jefferson senior defensive end Tyriq McCord has dominated at his position the last two years in Hillsborough County. On Saturday, however, he will face his toughest matchup of the season, and possibly his prep career, when the Dragons (1-1) head to Ohio to face St. Edward on Saturday.
St. Edward has two standout lineman in tackle Kyle Kalis (6-foot-5, 305 pounds), a five-star recruit who is committed to Michigan, and guard Tyler Orlosky (6-4, 290 pounds), a four-star recruit who is committed to West Virginia. If they decide to line him up against McCord, he may also see 6-6 tight end Sam Grant, who is committed to Boston College.
St. Edward has a number of other Division I players on its roster. Defensive tackle Greg Kuhar is committed to Northwestern, outside linebacker Darryl Render is committed to Pittsburgh and cornerback Kirkland Bryant is committed to Eastern Michigan. Two-star receiver Quincy Jones (6-3, 200) is uncommitted but has offers from schools like West Virginia and Wisconsin.
