RIVERVIEW For three years, Ian McConnell and Briana Bell were members of the Riverview High golf team. Bell said every now and then, the boys and girls teams would play a friendly round of golf and McConnell, the two-time Tampa Tribune Boys Golfer of the Year, would usually win.

On Wednesday, they sat beside each other to sign their letters of intent to play at the college level. McConnell officially signed a golf scholarship with Liberty while Bell signed a softball scholarship with Mississippi State. Bell decided not to play golf this past season.
“Its a big relief to have it out of the way,” McConnell said. “Hopefully I’ll be able to dominate up there.”
Bell, who plans to study law, will join older sister and former Riverview standout Brittany Bell in the outfield.
“Its going to be fun,” Bell said. “I played with her for one year (in high school).”
