PHILADELPHIA—His two best power hitters mired in a horrible slump, Joe Maddon has made some changes to the Rays’ lineup for Game 5.
Carl Crawford moves up from the fifth spot to second in the order, with B.J. Upton sliding down to third. Carlos Pena will hit fourth and Evan Longoria is down to fifth.
“We’ll see if Carl can get up there and set it up a little bit an unfreeze Longo and Carlos a bit,” Maddon said. “Just see if it makes a difference or not. It’s just a minor adjustment; we’ll see if it has any impact.”
Rocco Baldelli is in right field tonight rather than Ben Zobrist.
“I know he’s ready to play,” Maddon said. “Rocco can do something special, I believe. Not that the other guys can’t, but Rocco’s capable of doing something extraordinary, so I just wanted to get him out there.”
