TAMPA - QB Brian Griese sore right arm was feeling a little better Wednesday, but it still wasn’t feeling good enough to allow him to make any throws.
Griese sat out the morning walkthrough and will skip today’s practice as well. He said he could return to work on Thursday but it may not matter. The feeling here at One Buc Place is that the Bucs have already decided to change quarterbacks for the second time this year.
All indications then are that Jeff Garcia will be back at the helm when the Bucs take on the Panthers in their critical matchup Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.
Garcia is coming off an impressive relief effort in which he led the Bucs to their only touchdown, that coming at the end of a 90-yard drive late in the game. That drive seemed to pull Garcia back into the good graces of Coach Jon Gruden, who has been unhappy with the interceptions Griese has thrown in recent weeks as well as his failure to hit some open receivers.
Gruden was particularly critical of Griese failure to connect with a wide-open Jerramy Stevens deep downfield during last Sunday’s loss at Denver. That, his arm problems and Garcia’s improved play will likely add up to a quarterback change this Sunday.

gruden is an idoit for benching garcia after just one freaken game, peyton manning played terrible against the bears and yet he stays starter, gruden expects too much from his players when he showed time after time that he doesnet believe in them and there abilities, garcia is the best qb we have, why he brought brain back, i dunno, but garcia well give us the best chance to win, we just need galloway back on the field so they can show us more deep plays like the ones from last year and with antonia braynt stepping up, with a good qb like garcia, braynt well be an even better respected wide receiver, and that well give galloway more breating room and well also open up our run game.

i agree conner i would rather see luke than greaseball! garcia is the best bet. but also grudens play calling sucks i wish they would hire a offensive coordonator to call the plays and have trust in the players i mean these guys make good money if they cant play get rid of them!

If we have another game with four yard dump passers you can forgetabout winning this game. The panthers will put 7 men in the box and Bucs must use their speed runners to break open this game. Wake up Gruden!!!

Take a QB that in 13 games passed over 2,440 yards, 4 Ints and went to the PB. Not to mention took your none scoring offense to the playoffs and you bench him and started a guy that played 7 games passed for 1,803 yards and 12 ints. Why? Why? Why? I guess will never know the truth. Garcia is back at the helm. We just need Galloway and the 2007 bucs are back. With a better O-line and D. Go BUCS!!!!

Let me tell you all something you might not be aware of. Not a single one of you knows wtf you are talking about as far as the Garcia/Gruden thing went. Last I read, Jeff was quoted as saying that after looking at the tape, he was blown away by how slow he looked. If Gruden had left Garcia in there, and we lost 3 games, you guys would all be saying the same crap about Griese. By the way, are any of you employed in any capacity by an NFL team? Are the owners calling you for your advice? I didn’t think so. Why do you all think you are worthy enough to tell someone how to run a team?

The fans here in Tampa/St Pete amaze me. When Dungy was here, we won nothing….NOTHING. Gruden came here and gave you division titles and a Super Bowl and you hate him. This city deserves to have its teams taken away. I’m betting the Rays are already listening to offers, maybe they will move the Bucs also.

Gruden IS an idiot for benching Garcia. He’d rather be petty and hold a grudge than just play to win.Griese had no business starting. Bucs won IN SPITE of his terrible performance and he’d be eaten alive by Carolina’s strong D. Even though Jeff is the Bucs best chance against Carolina, Garcia hasn’t seen much playing time and may be being set up by Gruden to fail. The next three games are going to be tough.

I hope Garcia comes out and plays like he did two years ago against the panthers (when he came in for the eagles after Mcnabb was injured.) With a performance like that, even Gruden couldn’t help but put him back in the starting QB position where he belongs.

CONNER: GRUDEN BROUGHT GRIESE BACK FOR INSURANCE. LO AND BEHOLD GRACIA’S INJURED, MISSES CAMP, ALL BUT 1 PRESEASON GAME, LOOKED LIKE CRAP AND LOST GAME ONE(AGAIN LO AND BEHOLD GREISE COMES IN AND WINS GAMES). GARCIA GOT LUCKY THEY FUMBLED HIS INT LAST WEEK OR THEY WOULD HAVE SCORED AGAIN. DON’T GET ME WRONG, I HOPE HE CAN PLAY LIKE THAT LAST DRIVE THE REST OF THE TIME HE PLAYS(HE’LL PROBABLLY GET HURT AGAIN, CAUSE OF HIS STYLE OF PLAY AND AGE).

I guess the medical procedure to remove the huge fork out of Garcias back was succesful.
