ST. PETERSBURG—Good morning from the Trop.
Rock music is blasting in the clubhouse, but the mood isn’t exactly upbeat and energetic after last night’s late collapse and 8-6 loss to the Tigers. That one dropped the Rays to 1-4 on their six-game homestand.
They’re six games behind the Red Sox and four behind the Rangers in the wild-card race, and while they’re still alive mathematically, their play of late has inspired little confidence they can make up the deficit. Rookie Wade Davis takes the mound in this afternoon’s series finale against the Tigers.
Here’s the lineup:
Jason Bartlett, SS
Car Crawford, LF
Ben Zobrist, RF
Carlos Pena, 1B
Pat Burrell, DH
Evan Longoria, 3B
Akinori Iwamura, 2B
Dioner Navarro, C
Fernando Perez, CF
