Rays third baseman Evan Longoria, pitchers Matt Garza and David Price (above) and center fielder B.J. Upton hung around Charlotte Sports Park after Saturday’s loss to the Marlins and signed autographs for nearly an hour to raise money for a friend fighting cancer.
The players charged $25 a ticket and the tickets were limited to 200 per player.
Together, they raised $15,950, which included a $5,000 donation by the Rays, who bought 18 dozen signed balls with the special anti-cancer hologram which will be donated to charity.
