Local players dominate FACA West All-Star Soccer roster

Five Sickles Gryphons lead a large local contingent for the West All-Star squad for this weekend’s FACA Boys Soccer All-Star Tournament to be held at the David Maus Soccer Complex in Lake Mary.

Goalkeeper Brandon Stout, defenders Gil Davis, Eric Krukar and Ben Wiley and midfielder Boris Simeunovic will all represent the Gryphons. Also included are Tampa Prep standouts Wes Sever and Anthony Baumann, Berkeley Prep’s T.J. Roehn, Wharton’s David Campbell, Land O’ Lakes’ Tim Falcon, Freedom’s Ellis Curry, Armwood’s Jesus Torres, Tampa Catholic’s Andrew Buckley, Seminole’s Shane Wixted and Palm Harbor University’s Ben Sweat.

The side will be coached by Wharton’s Scott Ware and Sickles’ Tony Calvo, and will face the East All-Stars on Friday at 6 p.m. The winner of that game will face the winner of the North-South game at noon on Saturday.
