Freedom High’s Matt Camara and Chamberlain’s Gary Buffington III recently tied for third place at the North Suncoast Junior Golf Association’s event at the Dunes Golf Club in Brooksville.
Camara and Buffington, both rising sophomores, each shot 78 on the par 72 course and finished two strokes back of the winner in the boys 13-15 year old advanced division on July 1.
With their top 3 finish, both Camara and Buffington qualified for the NSJGA’s Tournament of Champions at World Woods Golf Club on Aug. 11-12.

It is wonderful to see local golfers doing so well on a national stage. Congratulations to Matt Camara for having the poise and ability to do so well at such a young age. He is a star on the rise. Keep an eye on that one.
