—Despite a “final warning’’ in 2006 from athletic director Doug Woolard, former USF academic adviser Myrtice Landers retained her employment at the university on Thursday in a six-hour mediation hearing regarding her recent claims of racial discrimination. —USF freshman defensive back Terrence Mitchell earned the nickname “T-Rex’’ for some of the bone-jarring hits he delivered in high school. One of those collisions knocked him out cold last season as a senior at Hillsborough High. Mitchell talks about the collision in this Tampa Tribune story discussing head injuries in high school sports.
—Plant High OL Tony Posada had USF and Michigan in his final two. You probably know that Posada opted to spend college in Ann Arbor rather than stay close to home. Click here for more details.
—During USF’s stay in Vero Beach, redshirt freshman QB-turned-receiver Isaac Virgin is practicing in front of family and friends daily. Virgin grew up in nearby Fort Pierce. The Press Journal, Vero Beach’s daily newspaper, had a story on Virgin on the front page of its sports section on Thursday. Click here to check out the online version.
