Lines under Tocchet

The first practice in the post-Melrose era is underway (doesn’t it seem like it just started?) And here are the line combinations on the ice:
Vinny Prospal-Vinny Lecavalier-Marty St. Louis
Matt Pettinger-Jussi Jokinen-Radim Vrbata
Gary Roberts-Steven Stamkos-Mark Recchi
Evgeny Artyukhin (Ryan Craig)-Chris Gratton-Adam Hall
Ryan Malone is not on the ice, which is now his fourth consecutive practice missed with a lower body (leg, from what I hear, not a groin) so it looks like he is out for Sunday’s game at Carolina.

Good. Lets get on with it. Charge!

Wow. Putting Stamkos on a line with one of the best passers ever. What a novel concept. And people are complaining about a coaching change?

Hows the buzz around the team? Are they happier? Uptight? Hows Tocchet handling the new pressure?

While I’m not sure about breaking up Jokinen and Recchi, who have been the best two players on the ice (apart from Smitty) for this team this season and seem to have developed instant chemistry, perhaps the two will get Vrbata and Stamkos, respectively, going. Hopefully Tocchet can get more effort out of Vinny, who has really seemed to take large chunks of time off in games this year and looked completely disinterested. If he only put forth the sort of effort Ovechkin does every single shift, he’d be absolutely unstoppable.

Oh, and here’s hoping Tocchet wisely chooses to use Vrbata on the PK. I’m absolutely perplexed as to why Melrose didn’t. Apparently with all the hockey Melrose has watched the past few years, he missed the little tidbit about Vrbata being the most dangerous player shorthanded, in terms of SHG per shorthanded minute. He and Marty together would give opposing teams heart attacks.

I’m really happy to see Stamkos with Roberts and Recchi. That’s a good move. Also moving him down to a third line role will take more pressure off him.
Go Bolts

I’m sorry to see Melrose go because I consider myself a caring human being,BUT,he deseved to go. The game has passed him by. He certainly won’t hurt for money. The team was lost to him the minute he arrived. There is an old adage that basically states, you can always loosen the discipline but you can’t tighten it after its gone. He was too much a players’ coach and not enough a Hockey coach. Rick Tocchet was one tough S.O.B. who could also play hockey at a high level .Hopefully he will carry over his playing ability to coaching. It’s a great opportunity for him. And please, none of the backstabbing about the gambling bit.Think about the Caps last year and hope that our players respond the same way

Article on TSN.ca about the Bolts practice today. Said Tocchet had the players breathing hard. Hopefully, we will be a more physical team from now on. We’ll know tomorrow against the Canes. And I know we all hope the lines will remain the same. Good Luck to Tocchet and go Bolts!

OK Tocchet, It’s your show now! Let’s get these guys moving and motivated. Don’t make me come down there.

Shut up Joyce. Now you think it is good for Stamkos to play with Roberts. When you whined about how much Roberts makes. SHUT UP JOYCE.

Tocchet is a real tough guy. Look at the number of goals in his career and the number of penalty minutes. There will definitely be more discipline. Let’s hope that it translates to a win tomorrow.

Remind me again, who coaches this team?
Of course Tocchet is going to make em sweat at his first practice, would You expect less…......let see what happens in the fifth one, when TB has won only one of its last 4 games.
Since star players are bitchin to management about TOI, it should only go to reason that more ice team for those players should produce better results.
So if they dont win, they cant complain about ice time…....will they then complain about the difference between Tocchet’s and Melrose barber?
Suggest removalGood luck.
