Tampa Bay has acquired defenseman Michal Sersen from the Piitsburgh Penguins in return for a fifth-round pick in the 2009 draft.
The Lightning just saw Sersen, who plays for HC Slovan Bratislava, the team Tampa Bay beat in a shootout on Tuesday. Sersen was drafted by the Penguins in the fifth round of the 2004 draft, played three total seasons in the QMJHL but never signed with Pittsburgh and returned home. The 22-year-old 22 goals and 79 points in 63 games with Quebec in 2005-06 and was named a Memorial Cup all-star that season.
