TAMPA – A still-sore ankle will keep Buccaneers cornerback Myron Lewis from playing on opening day for the second consecutive year today.
Lewis, a third-round draft pick of the Bucs in 2010 who missed last year’s opener because of a sore knee and hamstring, is one of seven players declared inactive for today’s game against the Lions at Raymond James Stadium.
Others listed as inactive for the Bucs are, running back Allen Bradford, safety Larry Asante, cornerback Anthony Gaitor, tackle Demar Dotson, guard Derek Hardman and tight end Zack Pianalto.
“I feel like I need a little rabbit’s foot or a four-leaf clover or something,’’ said Lewis, who is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Detroit. “But that’s part of the game. Eventually I’ll get over this and show people why they drafted me.’’
