Leto running back Jeremy Deering cancelled this weekend’s official trip to North Carolina because of an injury he suffered in the final game of the regular season.

The Tribune first reported Deering broke his collarbone in the Falcons overtime victory against Middleton last Friday. He will have surgery to repair it on Thursday, Leto offensive coordinator Frank Rose said. He had scheduled the trip to North Carolina last month, but because of the surgery, will not be able to travel. The Falcons leading rusher, who has more than 20 Division I scholarship offers, is expected to reschedule the trip for some time in January.
Deering, who already has visited Purdue, has a trip scheduled to Illinois in two weeks that should not be affected by the injury.
