Leto softball coach removed from position

Leto softball coach Kathryn Pasley has been removed from her coaching position for violating Florida High School Athletic Association rules, Hillsborough County spokesperson Linda Cobbe confirmed.

Cobbe said Pasley allowed players to practice on the softball field without authorization and in 2008-2009 took an incoming freshman on a tour of the softball facilities before she enrolled in 2009. That player is now a junior on the softball team.

Cobbe said the violations were discovered after parents sent letters to the school and school board members as part of a campaign to keep the team’s fieldhouse.  The fieldhouse was in a portable classroom used for softball and baseball equipment and does not have the required Department of Community Affairs certification that allows for student occupancy. 

Cobbe said Pasley, who has worked for the school district since 2002, will keep her teaching position as a criminal justice instructor. Last season, she led the Falcons to a 4-16 record.
