Leto coach Hugh Dehnert wants to set the record straight.
Dehnert refuted an anonymous rant on a local website that said offensive coordinator Frank Rose “is out.” Rose is still in as the Falcons OC, Dehnert said, but he did have to let wide receivers coach Joey Marino go and because they are short-staffed on offense, he will be more hands on.

“Our assistant coaches on offense haven’t been giving Frank the help that he needs, so I’m going to hand off some of my defensive responsibilities to the other defensive coaches and help Frank out,” Dehnert said.
Having lost four-consecutive games in which they averaged less than 10 points a game, with an offense that features tailback Jeremy Deering, one of the top running backs in the state, Dehnert said it was time for a change. The Falcons host Sickles in a district game Friday night, which also happens to be homecoming.
Leto isn’t out of the playoff hunt. Dehnert said a scenario exists that would force a three-way tie for the second playoff spot if they win and Largo beats Boca Ciega Friday night.
“We still have a chance,” Dehnert said.
