USF coach Jim Leavitt said Sunday he probably would bounce the Bulls from this week’s Top 25 rankings and that’s exactly what he did.
The Bulls went from No. 18 in his preseason ballot to unranked in this week’s poll. Leavitt’s preseason ballot had four Big East teams, but this week he’s down to two - No. 18 Cincinnati and No. 22 Pittsburgh. Besides USF, he also dropped Rutgers.
He also dropped his former No. 1 Oklahoma down to No. 14. Other differences from his first ballot: he added Ole Miss, Tennessee and Utah.

You can tell it’s impossible for coach to catch all the games. Cal is clearly better than LSU. PSU would beat OSU if they played today. OU took a huge drop, but if Bradford is back in three weeks, all that will change. I still like the fact he isn’t giving any love to BYU. One play changed the game. Bradford stays healthy, OU wins handily. It’ll be interesting to see if FSU can handle BYU on the road. We’ll know then if BYU is for real.
I don’t like Boise State that much, but would have them at #15. They really can’t move much at #19. Probably coach’s way of penalizing their remaining weak schedule.
The rest of the rankings are so-so.

Smart psychology by Leavitt. He needs to make his team hungry. They need to play with a chip on their shoulder.
I tell you, what an awesome game last night between fsu and miami. Both of those teams are going to be tough to beat. Luckily, neither team will be as pumped against usf. Also, and only somebody who grew up in FL would understand, I would trade a win @ FSU for two losses in the Big East. Winning at FSU would be the greatest feeling as a usf fan (from FL).
