The Land O’ Lakes football team will be short one receiver Thursday night against Wesley Chapel after junior Will Irwin was suspended by coach Matt Kitchie.
According to Kitchie the suspension was due to the breaking of a team rule.
He will be suspended for this game,” Kitchie said. “He will be on the sideline in a jersey only so he knows he’s still a part of this team. He’s not kicked off the team by any means.
“Hopefully he’ll be back Monday with a good attitude and a solid work ethic.:
This is the second consecutive week in which a Gators starter has been suspended for a game. Last week quarterback Stephen Weatherford was suspended for one game to a rules infraction.
Irwin is the team’s leading receiver with 14 re3ceaptions for 268 yards and two scores. He’s also ran the ball 26 times for 122 yards. He’s also recovered a fumble on defense.
