Cambridge Christian senior Peter Miller tossed the first no-hitter in Hillsborough County this season Thursday afternoon.
The Lancers right-hander struck out 13 in a 30-0 victory at Keswick Christian, a game shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule. Miller didn’t walk any but hit two batters. It is the first no-hitter of his high school career, according to Lancers coach Rick Shears.
Miller last week earned the Cy Young Award at the Westminster Sunshince Classic in Fort Lauderdale after helping the Lancers earn the tournament title with a championship-game victory over nationally-ranked Charlotte (N.C.) Christian.
Miller improved to 2-0 on the season with the win Thursday, and he has struck out 44 hitters in 20 1/3 innings pitched.
