Cambridge Christian senior baseball player Matt Fishman has verbally committed to Quincy University, Lancers coach Rick Shears announced Thursday.
Fishman, the Lancers’ top returning pitcher, has played a big role in Cambridge Christian’s run to the Class 1A state title game each of the past two seasons. A right-hander, Fishman owns a combined 18-6 record and 1.78 ERA over the past two seasons, including a 10-1 mark and 1.29 ERA as a sophomore. He also has 93 strikeouts in 110 innings pitched during the past two seasons.
Fishman is an offensive threat as well; he hit .447 last season.
Cambridge Christian has built somewhat of a pipleline to Quincy’s athletics program the past few years. Quincy has signed two Lancers football players - Austin Welti and Erik Shears - and also signed baseball player Trent Tagliarini. Quincy’s baseball program competes at the Division II level.
Fishman will sign his Letter-of-Intent on Nov. 18, the final day of the early signing period.
