Lady Crusaders claim Christmas championship

Tampa Catholic’s girls basketball team hit the beach for the holidays and are returning home today with a tournament title.
The Lady Crusaders defeated Father Lopez 61-54 Wednesday night in Daytona Beach for the Father Lopez Christmas Tournament championship. Tampa Catholic’s Micah Kroll, Meghan Keough and Sarah Brennan were selected to the All-Tournament team and senior Colette Eule was named the MVP of the tournament.
Tampa Catholic opened the tournament with a 69-25 victory against New Smyrna Beach and then handed Gulf its second loss of the season with a 58-44 win. The Lady Crusaders improved to 14-1 with its championship game victory over Father Lopez, a team that had only one previous loss and was ranked ninth in the state.
