King baseball coach Jim Macaluso announced that senior shortstop Devon Pedro signed with Santa Fe College in Gainesville earlier this month.
Pedro, who as just voted one of the Lions’ captains, will likely serve as King’s leadoff man this season. As the starting shortstop his junior season, Pedro hit .344 with 23 runs scored and 11 RBI as King was a region semifinalist.
“He’s the table setter for our offense,” Macaluso said. “For us to go he has to go and he’s worked hard to become a better bunter, hitter and runner. He’s a leader for this team.”
