Gaither’s Kelley wins Boggs Award

Gaither’s Hayden Kelley was given the Wade Boggs Athletic Achievement Award in a ceremony Wednesday.
Boggs, a Plant High graduate and 12-time major league all-star, presented the award to the senior center fielder.
The award, established in 2005 by the Hillsborough County Commissioners, is presented to one of the Hillsborough County’s top baseball team or players each year based on academic and athletic achievement as well as community involvement.
Past winners include:
2011 - Brandon Sinjin Sato (King)
2010 - Peter Miller (Cambridge)
2009 - Jay Laurienzo (Hillsborough)
2008 - Alex Panteliodis (Alonso)
2007 - Tommy Toledo (Alonso)
2006 - Ryan McCurdy (Plant)
