King High right-handed pitcher Brett Morales has orally committed to the University of Florida, Lions coach Jim Macaluso said.
Morales was 6-1 with an 0.99 ERA last season, the first time he worked on the mound for the Lions after previously playing third base in his first two years. Macaluso said Morales received widespread national interest after an oustanding performance during a showcase camp in Minnesota.
“The best is yet to come for Brett,’’ Macaluso said. “We were hearing from everybody, Florida, Florida State, Stanford. They were all interested. It’s unbelievable how quickly it happened, but I think Florida has really gotten a good one.’’
