GAINESVILLE—The USA Today and Harris polls have Florida ranked No. 1 while the AP poll has Alabama in the top spot with the Gators at No. 2. So the debate is on, who is the best team in the SEC, forget about nationally.
Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin just seems to find a way to poke the Gators whenever he can and he’s at it again. UF held off the Vols 23-13 on Sept. 19. UT faces Alabama this Saturday in Tuscaloosa, but Kiffin’s already make his decision.
“I think one poll got it right,’’ he said. “If you watch football and pay attention, I don’t think there’s any doubt who the No. 1 team is. It was very evident when you look at the two teams playing Arkansas. Alabama has a great team, very well-coached, extremely talented, great special teams, great on offense, great on defense. I love the style that they play with. I think they play extremely physical. They play in your face. They come downhill at you. That’s what we’re going to be someday. I like everything about what they do.’‘
On Wednesday’s SEC teleconference, Kiffin was at it again. He said Alabama is a physical team while Florida “kind of tricks you and moves everybody around.’‘
