The University of South Florida picked up the latest addition to its 2012 football recruiting class Tuesday when Jupiter QB Tyler Cameron verbally committed to the Bulls.
Cameron, who chose USF over LSU, Purdue and Illinois, is considered one of the state’s top prospects at his position. Rivals.com rates Cameron, who participated in the prestigious Elite 11 camp this summer in California, as a four-star recruit and the nation’s No. 6 dual-threat quarterback.
Cameron becomes the ninth member of the Bulls 2012 class and the third prospect rated by Rivals.com as a four-star recruit, joining Citra North Marion TE Sean Price and Plant City WR Lamarlin Wiggins. That should give another boost to the class ranking for USF, which was No. 20 in the initial 2012 class rankings released by Rivals.com.
With just 14 scholarship seniors on the roster, USF’s next recruiting class is quickly filling up, but Skip Holtz and his staff are on their way to what could end up being the highest-ranked recruiting haul in program history.
