Chandlor Mathews-York, an offensive lineman out of Pearl River Community College in Mississippi, confirmed late Monday he has given a verbal commitment to USF, becoming the latest member in the Bulls 2012 recruiting class.
Mathews-York, from Bay St. Louis, Miss., also considered Pittsburgh, East Carolina and Marshall, but enjoyed his official visit to USF’s campus enough to end his recruiting process. He will join the program in January as an early enrollee and have two years of eligibility with the Bulls.
Standing 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, Mathews-York was a two-year starter on the line at Pearl River, spending his freshman season at right tackle and this past season at left tackle. However, he’ll be moving to guard with the Bulls and is a potential replacement at left guard for Jeremiah Warren, who is graduating.
“I know I’ve got to earn it, but I know I can,” Mathews-York said.
