Joyer tops Rivals fullback rankings

Rivals.com released its 2011 Top Prospects and Tampa Catholic fullback Hunter Joyer tops that list at fullback.

Oddly enough, Rivals listed just three fullbacks on its position-by-position rankings, none of whom are among the national recruiting web site’s top 250 prospects. While the No. 1 fullback ranking went to the 6-foot, 245-pound Joyer, No. 2 is Trayion Durham (6-1, 230) of Cincinnati and No. 3 is Tyler Cierski (6-1, 240) of Hoschton, Ga.

The only local athletes to make Rivals’ top 250 were Plant runningback/defensive end James Wilder and Alonso defensive lineman Anthony Chickillo.

Joyer currently has offers from Connecticut, Georgia Southern, Louisville, Minnesota, South Florida, Stanford and Texas A&M. Joyers plans to attend football camps this week at Georgia Tech and Georgia. Sunday, he will be at a University of Miami camp and, on Monday, one at the University of Florida.
